1) The drug resistance of bacteria is mainly due to the process of gene transfer.There are various mechanisms of gene transfer such as conjugation,transduction and transformation.In these mechanisms the drug resistance gene is transferred from donor cell to acceptor cell. The drug resistance gene is present in plasmid.
