Early in 17th century ,the masque that comprises much of the fourth act of the Tempest had become a regular form of court entertainment. Masques were elaborated spectacles designed to appeal the audience\'s senses and glorify the monarch. Further more their sheer richness suggested the magnificence of the King\'s court, thus they served a political purpose as well as entertained the people. The masque\'s another function was the desire to recapture the past. The masques also responded to the yearning for a time now ended. For eg, prospero\'s masque is focused on the pastoral motives with reapers and nymphs celebrating the fecundity of the land.

Caliban being the son of sycorax and the devil was a neutral man and was not even able to conquer the island but instead became enslaved by prospero.

In the story Tempest Gilgamesh was not described.

Sycorax was a witch and a cruel minded person. She also imprisoned a sprite named Ariel who was later rescued by prospero.

Miranda the daughter of prospero was a soft and innocent girl. She was totally against cruelty and also stopped her father from creating a huge storm to sink the ships containing his enemies.
