Part A Using the following data calculate Delta G at 298 K D

Part A

Using the following data, calculate Delta G at 298 K. Delta G (NO2(g))=51.84 kJ/mol. Delta G (NO2O4(g))=98.28 kJ/mol.

Part B

Calculate Delta G at 298K if the partial pressures of NO2 and N2O4 are 0.36atm and 1.63atm , respectively.

Please answer both questions Delta G in kJ format. Thank you :)

Solution

Part A) 2NO <------> N2O4

dG = 98.28-(2x51.84) = -5.4 KJ/mol

part b) Kp = pN2O4/p^2NO2 = 1.63/(0.36)^2 = 12.57

dn of reaction = moles of prroduct(gas) - moles of reactanst = 1-2 =-1,

Kc = Kp/(RT)^dn = 12.57/(0.0821x298)^-1 = 307.7

dG = -RT lnKc = -8.314x298 ln(307.7) = -14194 Joules/mol = -14.194 KJ/mol

Part A Using the following data, calculate Delta G at 298 K. Delta G (NO2(g))=51.84 kJ/mol. Delta G (NO2O4(g))=98.28 kJ/mol. Part B Calculate Delta G at 298K if
