Max has a rectangular garden that is 3 feet by 7 feet. If he needs 2 ounces of fertilizer per square foot for the garden to flourish, how many ounces must he use?
A. 21 oz
B. 42 oz
C. 44 oz
D. 56 oz
Solution
as given Max has a rectangular garden that is 3 feet by 7 feet
we can say that L = 3 feet and W = 7 feet
he needs 2 ounces of fertilizer per square foot for the garden to flourish
we know that the area of the rectangular garden is given by,
A = LW feet2
so total are of the rectangular garden is,
A = 3*7 feet2
A = 21 feet2
and as given he need 2 ounces of fertilizer per square feet for the garden to flourish
we can say that if he requires 2 ounces of fertilizer per square feet for the garden to flourish then he requires 21*2 = 42 ounces per 21 sqaure feet for the garden to flourish.
so Max reuires 42 ounces of fertilizer for flourish of the entire garden that is 3 feet by 7 feet
