The melting point of meso hydrobenzoin is higher than the melting point of the dl pair of hydrobenzoin. Comparing the melting pointd we obtained from the reaction with the literature, we can identify the isomer formed in the reaction. the color changes from yellow for benzoin to white for the products hydrobenzoin. this confirms that reduction has occured.
