This is not a MATH question. Can someone please move this under \"home / study / social sciences / philosophy\". There is no option for me to chose Philosophy as a subject.

Question.

In two paragraphs, summarize and evaluate the following argument or explanation. PLEASE BE DETAILED for the question to be worth any marks.

It seems to me that what is called academic freedom is the key to all freedom. Once the scientist is allowed to pursue science without reference to political priorities: once the records of the past are thrown open to the historian, once the poet or novelist can write without the restrictions of ideology, I think the worst horrors of the police state will become relaxed and eventually impotent. (Northrop Frye, On Education, p. 3)

Solution

An academic has the power to do anything and everything as his thoughts are clear and free of any restrictions.

Education helps an academic to travel on any path of life as the academic would help him in all problems if life.

The jist of the paragraph is that if there are no set parameters or bounds on what a person can and cant do then there would be no problems. ANd the people in power would have no trouble and their notion of trouble would all go away .If all are allowed to spur to the best of their capabelities without setting any parameters on how much they can grow and prosper then the world would be a better place to live for everyone.
