1. The purpose of an experiment is to find how the change in one variable(cause) can result in a change of another variable(effect). First element is to design the experiment in such a manner that the effect of change in one variable on another can be observed.

2. The second element is to make sure there is no other factor than the variable which are in study , affects the experiment(at least not significantly).
