Density of solute is given as 1.07g/cm3( Is the solute is a solid or liquid? Is it same as the stock solution?)

Conc of stock solution = 0.010 Vol% ,ie 0.010 ml of solute in 100 ml of the solution

According to dilution law, V1C1 = V2C2

1)To make 50 ml 0.001 % solution;

V1 x 0.01 = 50 x 0.001

V1 = 50 x 0.001/ 0.01 = 5 ml

ie volume of stock solution (solute) to make 50 ml diluted solution = 5 ml

Volume of solvent (Dl water) = volume of solution - volume of solute = 50 ml - 5 ml =45 ml

Density of diluted solutin = Mass of solution /Volume of the solution.

Volume of the solution = 50 ml

Now mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent

Mass of solvent = Volume of solvent x density of solvent = 45ml x 1g/ml=45 g ( Density of water = 1g/ml)

Mass of 5 ml solute = volume x density = 5ml x 1.07 g/ml = 5.35 g ( 1 cm3 = 1ml)

Mass of diluted solution = 45 g + 5.35 g = 50.35 g

Density of the diluted solution = 50.35 g/50 ml = 1.007 g/ml

Density of 0.001 vol% solution = 1.007 g/ml

2) 50 ml 0.005v0l%

V1 x 0.01 = 50 x 0.005

V1 = 50 x 0.005 /0.01 =25

V1 = 25 ml

ie, Volume of solute = 25 ml

Mass of solute = V x d = 25ml x 1.07 g/ml = 26.75 g

Volume of water = 50ml - 25ml = 25ml

Mass of water = V x d = 25 g

Mass of diluted solution = 26.75 g + 25g = 51.75g

Density of solution = m/v = 51.78g/50 ml = 1.035 g/ml

Density of 0.005 vol% solution = 1.035 g/ml
