A chemist mixes 80 g of diethyl ether with 18 g of 2ethyltol

A chemist mixes 8.0 g of diethyl ether with 18. g of 2-ethyltoluene and 71. g of acetic acid. Calculate the percent by mass of each component of this solution. Be sure each of your answer entries has the correct number of significant digits. component mass percent x10 diethyl ether 2-ethyltoluene acetic acid

Solution

mass of diethyl ether   = 8g

mass of 2-ethyltoluene = 18g

mass of acetic acid      = 71g

Total mass of solution = 8+18 + 71   = 97g

mass percent of diethyl ether   = 8*100/97   = 8.25%

mass percent of 2-ethyltoluene    = 18*100/97   = 18.56%

mass percnt of acetic acid   = 71*100/97   = 73.2%

A chemist mixes 8.0 g of diethyl ether with 18. g of 2-ethyltoluene and 71. g of acetic acid. Calculate the percent by mass of each component of this solution.
