How does Sp2 hybridized carbon play a role in polymers :
In relation to polymer formation by addition and condensation
In relation to polymer backbones
In relation to functional reactive groups
In relation to 2 different elements from group 6 of the periodic table.
In relation to isomers
In relation to conductivity of the polymer
Solution
Polymers have a continous backbones Sp2 hybidrized carbons. Sp2 orbital have 1 unpaired electron per carbon.
Three Sp2 carbon atoms form a 3-dimensional to attain stable configuration whereas unmixed pz orbital is located perpendicular to the 3-d formed ba 3 Sp2 carbons space.
The Sp2 carbons form sigma bonds and pzorbital form pi bond. The pz orbital of a polymer form pi overlap that results in the delocalisation of electrons in polymer chain.
