(2 -y)^4 = 3( 2- y)^2 +1

Let ( 2-y)^2 = x

x^2 = 3x +1

x^2 - 3x -1 =0

Use quadratic formula : x = (3 +/-sqrt(9 +4) )/2

=( 3 +/- sqrt13)/2

x = 1.5 +/- sqrt(13)/2

x = 3.3 , -0.3

(2 -y)^2 = 3.3

2 - y = +/- 1.82 ; y = 0.18 ; y = -3.82

2- y = +/- i1.82 .This will give complex solutions.Ignore this
