A bird flies north at 60 kmhr for 2 minutes then east at 70
A bird flies north at 60 km/hr for 2 minutes, then east at 70 km/hr for 5 minutes, and finally lands after flying south at 80 km/hr for 3 minutes. What is the displacement of the landing point from the take-off point?
Solution
Let east be postive x axis and north be positive y axis.
for first the distance travelled in north would be 60*2*1000*60/3600 =2000 m so position would be 2000 j
no it travels east for 70*5*1000*60/3600 = 5833.33 so now position would be 2000j+ 5833.33 i
now it flies south for 80*3*1000*60/3600 = 4000 so new position would be 2000j+5833.33i-4000j
= 5833.33 i-2000j is displacement as compared to starrting poitn
