In speciation a species evolves bases on the topography and climate of the region they live and adapting to the specific environment. Like the lions have adapted themselves for the grasslands and desert and Tigers have adapted themselves for topography consisting of dense forests.

While evolution is a more broader term which involves development of characteristics that help a living creature survive in the environment they are in. It is purely based on the selective development of a species. For example how Tigers have developed stripes that help them camouflage themselves in jungles.
