A mars robotic explorer is programmed to set up a flat mirro
A mars robotic explorer is programmed to set up a flat mirror on the martian surface so that the explorers cameras can get a complete view of itself. This will help operators back on Earth to see the condition of the explorer after the dust storms. To keep the payload weight low, the mirror needs to be small as possible. The robotic explorer is 1.3m in height. What is the minimum height of the required mirror?
Solution
Height of robotic explorer = 1.3 m
to see the complete image in mirror,
Height required = height of robotic explorer/2 = 1.3/2
Minimum height of mirror = 0.65 m
As you can see that in a flat mirror if you want to see feet of the image than you only need to see the line connecting to the feet and your eyes. You don\'t need to see the ground in front of your feet. And same thing goes with your eyes and your head.
