A marketing class polled 150 people at a shopping center to determine how many read the Weekly Gazette. They found that 126 read the Daily News, 31 read both, and 10 read neither.
Solution
Here\' my take on the solution for the problem. Its easier to solve the problem using Venn diagrams:
Total marketing class size = 150
Size that reads Daily News = 126
31 read both Gazette and Daily News
10 read niether. So 150-10 = 140 read either Gazette or Daily News.
So, Size that reads Weekly Gazette is =Read both+ Read only WG
= 31+14 = 45.
We arrive at 14 is this way:
Total who read any of the newspaper is 140(150-10). 126 read DN, so 14 (140-126 = 14) must be reading only WG.
45 is the final answer
