baroreceptors are sensory neurons that are excited by streach in blood vessel. increase in pressure of blood vessel triggers increased action potential genaration. the sensory information is used primarily in autonomic reflexes that influence cardiac output and vascular smooth muscle to influence total peripheral resistance. baroreceptors act immediately as part of negetive feedback system and return the blood pressure to normal lebel.
