A 0.725 M solution of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is to be reacted with a 0.339 M solution of sodium hydroxide to make sodium sulfate and water. How many L of the H2SO4 solution will react with 0.368 L of the NaOH solution? Give your answer to 3 decimal places.

Solution

Moles of NaOH = 0.339 * 0.368 = 0.124752

2 Na0H + H2SO4 -----> Na2SO4 + 2 H2O

So moles of H2SO4 = ( 1/2 ) * moles of NaOH = 0.062376 = V * 0.725 so V = 0.086 L
