You have noticed that your organization has improvement oppo
You have noticed that your organization has improvement opportunities in some aspect of its operation (manufacturing, processes, services, morale, etc.). With highly developed creative skills, you would like to offer a new idea to resolve what you consider a problem. Your organization has a suggestion blog. After briefly sharing your idea online, your boss contacts you and tells you that, impressed by your practical idea, the Board of Governors has called a special meeting for you to pitch the issue/problem/improvement opportunity and your solution. You ponder how to do this. This could be a rare opportunity for you to showcase your out-of-the-box innovative skills. You know this is not the time to wing it. You have decided to write and memorize a script of your pitch – word for word - for a successful presentation to the board. In this part of the exam, you are to identify a problem area/issue in your workplace and create a pitch in the form of a written script – word for word. Cover the following in your pitch: 1. Start the script with a once-sentence opening (such as, Dear Board Members, …) 2. Heading: Introduction. What are the name, location, size and primary services offered by this organization and what is your role (min. 40 words)? 3. Heading: The Pitch. Provide the exact script of your pitch word for word: a. State the background of the problem (min. 100 words)? b. State your evidence/observation of this problem (provide details, min. 100 words)? c. Clearly describe your solution (min. 100 words) d. Apply Tactics of Innovation to your idea one by one (skip Credible Messenger). Use appropriate heading for each Tactic. The length of this part is entirely up to you. Note that you are providing an exact script, not a bulleted list. Root your pitch in the evidence of the problem you want to solve.
Solution
Dear Board Members , at the outset I’m would like take this opportunity to thank you all for reposing that trust in me in choosing the solution
Let me first introduce my firm ABC Inc ,it’s a firm of 1200 employees headquartered in Chicago and our primary services include providing staffing and training solutions to corporates across USA, I have been with the firm for past 7 years ,joined this firm as an associate but now working as an Assistant Manager , my role involves managing end to end training solutions for our client XYZ ,currently also working for our new offerings on Skill development titled “Get Skilled”
What I would like to share today with you gentlemen is an issue not new to all of us , but has been not given its due notice and focus
The issue I would to talk today is about our graduate un-employability index which is at the highest in the last past 3 years data , I first discovered skill gap few years ago during one of my client meeting ,where the training module was to build skills and competence for a small firm .
Skill gaps are part of every job , and therefore we are in business , each client require different approach to train and fill this gap for their employees
But what’s alarming is , that issue has risen over years ,and the more graduates we hire , the more skill gap is being identified in employing them
Resulting in organization choosing experience employee over graduates ,but indirectly creating lack of jobs for the fresher’s /graduates
To combat this growing skill gap , we have come up with a solution , and have titled our project as GROW 1.0 , this program aims to partner with manufacturing ,retail or many other industries ,hereby assisting us understand the various skills we need to get employed in it , and based on the skill identification , it helps us design trainings to overcome the alarming high skill gaps existing in the job market today
I hope with this small step in our vision to combat the huge skill gap ,we would be in coming times be able to establish a community of skilled and available resources .
