1. The hallmark of cancer includes six biological abilities acquired by the cancer cell during development of tumor. Anchorage - independent growth is one the hallmark which is ability of cell to proliferate in solid surfaces. Soft colony forming assay test is widely used method for determining this ability of the cell in vitro. This assay is also useful in evaluating this capability in responce to various treatment conditions. Initially this test used to require 3 - 4 weeks to complete also there was manual counting of colonies. Recent advancement of the test uses fluorometric dye which is more sensitive also time requires for assay is reduced to one week.
