Given the following set of population data find the standard

Given the following set of population data, find the standard deviation 2,4.5, 8,16 Given the following set of data, find the the mode and the median 33 31 42 38 32 31 42 27 42

Solution

Q5.

Step 1:Add them up:
2 + 4 + 5 + 8 + 16 = 35

Step 2: Square your answer:
35 × 35 = 1225
…and divide by the number of items. We have 6 items in our example so:
1225 / 5 = 245
Set this number aside for a moment.

Step 3: Take your set of original numbers from Step 1, and square them individually this time:
2^2 + 4^2 + 5^2 + 8^2 + 16^2 = 365

Step 4: Subtract the amount in Step 2 from the amount in Step 3.
365 – 245 = 120
Set this number aside for a moment.

Step 5: Divide the number in Step 4 by the number 5 ( Size of population) . This gives you the variance:
120 / 5 = 24
How to find the sample variance and standard deviation: Standard Deviation

Step 7: Take the square root of your answer from Step 6. This gives you the standard deviation:

24 = 4.899

b. sigma = 4.899

Q6.

Median = Middle most observation = 37

Mode = 42

 Given the following set of population data, find the standard deviation 2,4.5, 8,16 Given the following set of data, find the the mode and the median 33 31 42
