Said one mom whose son was killed by a sniper in Fallujah, \"By making it something people play for fun, they are trivializing the battle.\" Company executive Peter Tamte relied on the advice of a number of Fallujah veterans and calls the video game a \"documentary-style reconstruction that will be so true to the original battle, gamers will almost feel what it was like to fight in Fallujah in November 2004. Please answer the following questions in the link provided: 1. What do you think? 2. What ethical issues do you see here? 3. Was the company smart to not have released the game, why or why not?

Solution

In my opinion, it is not wise decision to release the game which depicts the war against the Fallujah. The main reason behind this logic is that this type of game will inculcate the feeling of violence and hate among the children or anyone who plays this game.

The different types of ethical question can be arisen due to this game are stated as below:-

This game can remind the families of victims to undergo the same pain again and thus it will create a more misery for those who have already suffered a lot.

War is always bad for humanity and if these games are released depicting the war a s a fun then more people will favor war as they will treat it as a fun.

On the other hand, there will be the wastage of four years wastage of efforts and resources which was devoted to the development of the game. This will create a lot of monetary losses for the firm.

In my opinion not releasing the game was a correct decision by the company as the bad memories of this ugly war was still fresh and thus the timing was very sensitive and many people might have opposed this decision. This could result in an outrage against the firm which could hamper its long-term revenue generation and the public image of the company.
