A garden has an area of 273 ft2 garden Its length is 8 ft mo

A garden has an area of 273 ft^2 garden? Its length is 8 ft more than its width What are the dimensions of the garden? The width of the garden is and the length of the garden Is ? (Simplify your answers)

Solution

Let, width be x and legnth be y

So,

y=x+8

Area=xy=x(x+8)=273

x^2+8x-273=0

273=91*3=13*21

So we can factorise the given equation as

x^2+21x-13x-273=0

x(x+21)-13(x+21)=0

x=13,x=-21

x must be positive

So, x=13, y=21

 A garden has an area of 273 ft^2 garden? Its length is 8 ft more than its width What are the dimensions of the garden? The width of the garden is and the lengt
