simplify answer

Solution

Dear Student

Thank you for using Chegg !!

Since the function is linear , let us assume it to be

h(x) : Ax + b

At x = 7 h(x) = -6

=> 7A + B = -6 ........................................................(1)

At x = -4 h(x) = 16

=> -4A + B = 16........................................................(2)

Now 4 times equation (1) + 7 times equation (2) gives

11B = -24 + 112

11B = 88

B = 8

=> A = -2

Hence h(x) = -2x + 8

Hence Solved

h(3) = -2(3) + 8

= -6 + 8

= 2 Solution
