What is the difference between leadership diversity and lead
What is the difference between leadership diversity and leadership inclusion?
Which is more important and Why?
Solution
Leadership diversity and leadership inclusion are two different concepts having two different meanings.
Leadership diversity means that there are employees of different race, religion, skillset, cultural backgrounds, sexes, tenure etc. i.e. there is a mix of people in the team and everybody is supposed to together achieve business objectives.
Example: Google in the recent past has tried to include more of women as their employees and this shows that diversity is there at the workplace.
Leadership Inclusion on the other hand means to make that diversity work for the benefit of the organization, many a times organizations feel that if there is diversity in the team they will work on their own but this not the case so inclusion is tougher than getting diverse. Such leaders respect employees by giving them equal opportunity to grow and excel in career by considering their ideas and motivating innovation.
Both are important as they both complement each other and it is often considered that inclusive leaders are more successful as they are making the diversity work for achieving the business objectives.
