1. How can/do YOU reduce the amount of waste and pollution that you create? In other words, describe 3 things that you can do/already do to reduce, reuse and recycle more.

The City of Phoenix recently started a program called \"Save as You Reduce and Recycle\", in which families are charged less for waste services (i.e., removal of their solid waste) if they opt to have a smaller trash can, as shown in the first video below. This is one form of a \"pay as you throw\" policy, in which people are charged less or more based on how much waste they generate. Solution

Environmental pollution and degradation of resources are the biggest challenges we are facing in the present century. If we do not take serious measures to reduce environmental pollution and degradation of resources , It will definitely pose a serious threat to our survival in coming times. Three important measures we can adopt to reduce environmental pollution and resource degradation are;

1. Walk by foot or use public transport to go to workplaces or market. This will reduce consumption of field in automobiles and release of harmful substances in aur. This will also help in conservation of petroleum resources.

2. Water which comes from our kitchens from washing vegetables and food items can be used to irrigate plants in home gardens. This is one way of water re-use. It will help in water conservation.

3. Make payments of electricity, telephone, grocery etc bills by electronic billing system. This will reduce use of paper and create lesser amount of junk in the environment. Switch to electronic news system rather than newspapers.

4.Take a reusable bag with you for shopping. Take durable canvas or synthetic-fiber bags or a basket with you to the store, enough to hold whatever you plan on buying.
