What is the Reynolds number for blood flowing at 10 cms thro

What is the Reynolds number for blood flowing at 10 cm/s through an artery 1 mm in diameter, assuming that the density and dynamical viscosity of blood are the same as water, i.e. 1 g/cm^3 and 1.0 times 10^-3 N middot s/m^2, respectively?

Solution

Reynolds number = (Fluid velocity x Internal pipe diameter) / Kinematic viscosity

= 10 cm/s x 0.1 cm x 1 g/ cm3
