given (x-2)²/1 - (y+2)²/(4)² = 1

compare with (x-h)²/a² - (y-k)²/b² = 1

from diagram center (h,k) = (2,-2)

vertex (h+/- a ,, k) = (2+/- a , -2) = ( 2+/- 1 ,-2)

therfore a=1

and b = 4

here b is length of semi cingugate axis
