Malcolm Gladwell said there is no perfect pickle, only perfect pickles. What does he mean by that?
Solution
There is no any perfect pickle, rather there are perfect pickles. The speaker wants to say that there is no any perfect choice or composition or the characteristics that will suit to the everyone in the audience. The different sections of the audience look differently to the product and wants different taste, flavor and specific features. So, each segment will have their own perfect choice. When combining together, there are perfect choices, preferred by different segments of the target audience. Such phenomenon was revealed when Pepsi tried to find out the best percentage of sugar in the Pepsi that makes a perfect Pepsi. But, it could not happen as different segments have different preferences over the sweetness level, making no any perfect Pepsi rather perfect Pepsis.
The similar phenomenon has been observed in the business environment when a company comes up with product portfolio having different products for different segments to suit their requirement and become their best choice. It is observed in FMCG and telecom among the others.
