Health Insurance In United States of America

The health insurance in the country of the United States of America is in relation to any program which helps the people of the country to have the recovery of the money spent by the individuals in relation to the medical expenses incurred by them. Health insurance is very important for the people around the world. The people around the world do not have knowledge of the time when, they are likely to get ill.

The health care costs are very high and the medicines are also very costly for the people living in the country (Gittleman, 2011). In relation to the same, it is important for the people to make sure that, they have health insurance available to them so that, they work in a positive manner towards reduction in the health care costs incurred by them. The government of the United States of America is definitely working for the purpose of providing health insurance to the people. In relation to the health insurance, there are certain programs of the government which work for the welfare of the people in the country.

The insurance programs provided by the government to the people include Medicaid, Medicare and certain State Children’s Health Insurance Programs. There have been a huge number of people in the United States of America who have some form of insurance. Around 84% of the country had some form of health insurance in the year 2010. The remaining 16% of the people are still not having health insurance. In relation to the same, the people are not in the position to cover their health insurance costs by the insurance available to them.

There is reduction in the health insurance coverage in the people for some time now. In relation to the health insurance coverage, it has been provided that, the increase in the level of unemployment in the people and increase in the health care costs has resulted in the situation of decline in the health insurance coverage for the people. In relation to the insurance, it is important to consider the trends in the insurance coverage to a larger level.

Trends in Public and Private Insurance Coverage

There is a decline in the private insurance coverage to a certain level. The number of people insured by the employer based insurance programs is falling to a certain level. The percentage of individuals covered with private insurance programs has declined from the level of 68% to the level of 61% in the year 2009. The reason behind the decline in the health insurance coverage in the people is the increase in the level of insurance cost for the employers. There are a lot of people who have lost insurance coverage in the last many years. In relation to the insurance coverage, it is expected that, around 2, 60,000 people have lost insurance coverage in the last few years (Shortell, Casalino & Fisher, 2010). In this way, the signs for the people regarding the insurance coverage are not positive and it is important that, the people are put in a better position regarding the coverage of insurance.

In relation to the public coverage of insurance, there are two forms of programs of the government of the United States of America. The programs regarding health insurance regarding the people of the United States of America include Medicaid and Medicare. Both the programs are positive for the individuals. The programs should be there for all the eligible people in the country. The problem with these programs is that, not all the people of the United States of America have been in the position to have coverage under the same.

Medicaid program has covered only 14.5% of the people of the United States of America. On the other hand, the Medicare program has covered only 15.9% of the people living in the country. In relation to the same, it has been provided that, the people should be given higher level of coverage of both the programs under considered. These programs are for a special class of people. All the people belonging to that class should be covered by this program to a larger level in the future.
