a ) What is the effect of genetic drift on populations? What is the effect of gene flow on populations? :
b) What is the result of directional selection? Stabilizing selection? Disruptive selection?
c) Why can’t natural selection fashion perfect organisms?
Solution
A. When genes move in or out of the population amongst the population itself or from one population to another, it is called as gene flow. This gene flow which is also called as genetic migration causes the allelic frequencies to change. These changed frequencies of allels cause genetic drift. This genetic drift causes large changes in population in short period of time. It can cause the population to loose variations and thus natural selection cannot occur.
