Solution

initial speed = Vo

Y = Uyt - 0.5gt^2

x = Ux*t

-9 = 0 -0.5*9.8*t^2

t = 1.35 s

x = Vo*t

Vo = x/t

Vo = 1.75/1.35 = 1.291 m/s

the horizontal speed of the diver is 1.291 s
