Develop the appropriate null and alternate hypotheses and test if the monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles are equal for the two airlines (use alpha of 0.05). In addition, using the results from module 1 where you calculated the summary statistics for the items listed, test if the mean for each airline is equal to the mean for the industry for monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles.

Can someone help me with the null hypothesis and equations they are looking for? The data I\'m using is at this link above. I\'m using the first two airlines, Industry and Jet blue. Please point me in the right direction. Try to show work as much as possible. Thanks
Solution
The null hypothesis is the monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles are equal for the two airlines whereas the alternative hypothesis is the monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles are not equal for the two airlines.
Then the null hypothesis is the difference bewteen to airline is same in each miles.
For test if the mean for each airline is equal to the mean for the industry for monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles, we can use the ANOVA test to compair the mean of miles for each airlines.
| All US AIRLINES | Jet Blue | Hawaain Airlines | Difference | Difference | |
| Load Factor | 81.06 | 81.61 | 86.47 | -0.55 | -5.41 |
| Revenue Passenger Miles | 47134039.62 | 2061047 | 628166 | 45072992 | 46505874 |
| Available Seat Miles | 58077062.7 | 2519821 | 726690.15 | 55557241 | 57350373 |
