What is the difference between refrigeration and airconditio
Solution
4(a) both refregeration and air conditioning are basically same thermodynamic operation i.e maintaiong a lower temperature at a given space against the high surrounding temperature. but the main difference between them is size of space and refregeration capacity. generally refregeration is applied to small space like freezer, refregerator, etc. but air conditioning on the other hand usually installed to cool a large space like room, building, cold stores, etc. In refregeration main focus is on maintaing low temperature but in air conditiong focus is on providing confort temperature in which in addition to maintainig a low temperature, maintaining relative humidity and air flow is also considerd to give better air conditioning.
4(b) there are few method to produce dry air
(i) using compression to dry air :- air is compressed to high pressure as a result dew point ate which vapour condenses is raised. then just cool the compressed air to get dry air.
(ii) using reduced temperature to dry air :- lowering the temperature of air decreases the air ability to hold the moisture. hence dry air can be produced by cooling the air.
(iii) using desiccants to produce dry air :- this is the most simplest method to produce dry air. Desiccants are the absorbents and materials that has a natural affinity towards water. desiccants can produce gigh volume of dry air without changing any other property.
dry air is vry uesfull . it is used in most of the pneumatics devices and equipments, different type of air system. it is used in processing powdery food as cocoa, gelatin and hydrated concentrates.
4(c) he is sitting in a air conditioning car which makes the temperature inside the air very lower than outside temperature. as he opens the window air from outsides comes in contact with its sunglas and vapour in in air condenses.
4(d) relative humidity is a ratio of partial pressure of vapour to the saturation pressure at the given condition of air. it is simply can be understood as the relative humidity tells the amount of humidity in the air in comparison to the maximum humidity possible in that air at the given condition.
