Use the substitution method to find all solutions of the system of equations. {2x + y + 13 x + 2y = 5 (x, y) ()

Solution

Dear Student

Thank you for using Chegg !!

2x + y = 13....................(1)

x + 2y = 5........................(2)

From equation (2) we get

x = 5 - 2y

Substituting value of x from equation (2) in equation (1)

2 (5 - 2y) + y = 13

10 - 4y + y = 13

10 -3y = 13

-3y = 3

y = -1

Now substituting y = -1 in equation (1)

2x -1 = 13

2x = 14

x = 7

Hence solution is 7, -1
