Explain why springback in bending depends on yield stress, elastic modulus, sheet thickness, and bend radius.
Solution
When material is deformed plastically, some amount of elastic recovery occurs.
Since, elastic strain is higher material with more yield stress experiences more amount of spring back. Materials with higher elastic modulus experience less spring. Elastic strain is lower in this case.
If the material is rolled, the smaller the radius the smaller will be the spring back.
With increase in sheet thickness in turn increases spring back
