Leadership is generally concerned with influencing and stimulating others to complete the task in predefined manner. This in turn results in enhanced employee morale and increased organizational culture. One of such leadership type is termed as Charismatic leadership. It is a leadership style in which leaders use to arouse and excite their followers so that they emotionally see with the vision of leaders as leaders are perceived as role models .For an effective leadership it is essential to be an ethical leader. Ethics is simply defined as individual’s moral awareness, judgements character and conduct. Ethics is related to person’s own value and judgement about what is right and what is wrong. It is principle of conduct within organization that guides decision making and behaviour. It can also be defined as moral behaviour or principle used in decision-making process. Thus, ethics can be defined as moral behaviours or set of principles for right conduct. Moreover, by ethical leadership it is perceived as leading followers in way to respect the dignity and rights of each individual. Ethical leaders are more concern towards greater good than serving own interest and they are more people oriented.

In the article, charismatic leaders are viewed by the followers as omnipotent (guiding and nurturing leaders) or mystical (associated with higher truths) or heroic (leader known from their past performance and who are perceived as leaders who are capable of moving mountains) or value driven (capability to empower and pure in their spirit). Further, the article explains the relationship between follower’s dependency on leaders and the power and control that is vested with the charismatic leaders. If this power or control is unethically used it can have adverse affect on the psychological well being of the followers. Moreover, it is said that leaders are ethically responsible for free exchange of unbiased information; listening to followers, treating everyone with respect and dignity, believing in followers ability to achieve sky-scraping standards; developing critical thinking, innovative ideas, welcome negative as well as positive feedbacks; appreciate and recognize contribution of others, and build environment of trust, belief and confidence . Leaders should not misuse their power. Therefore, it is very essential for the leaders to be ethical as the followers are highly motivated in order to gain their leader’s individual approval; they are heavily affected by leaders’ beliefs and actions; leader’s symbolic status, unconscious drives foster leaders to modify its followers’ thoughts, emotions, and perceptions .

The article is compatible with the text as it is truly said that the charismatic leadership is basically based on personal and emotional relationship between leaders and the followers that is based on mutual trust and confidence. This power can be misused by the charismatic leaders by concentrating on their personal gain and vision. Thus, at one end charismatic leaders can drastically improve the performance of an organization; at the same time unethical leaders can aim to satisfy their self interest rather than focussing on greater good and needs of their followers.
