Using the values that you have just calculated in Question 1

Using the values that you have just calculated in Question 1, sketch a series of curves (all on the one graph) to show the variation of impedance with frequency for each component. Draw your graph in your notebook, with the layout as below. You will have to plot the logs of the numbers. You will use your graph to answer Question 2 b) 4.5 4 3.5 2.5 1.5 0.5 0 2 4 5 logio f(fis the frequency in Hz)

Solution

the formula for impedence is

z = sqrt R^2 + ( 2 pi f L - 1/ 2 pi fC)^2

resitance does not depend on the frequency so, yellow line represents resistor ( line 1)

inductor impedence is z = 2 pi fL

impedence is proportional to the inductor blue colour represents inductor ( line 5)

capacitive inductance z = 1/ 2 pi fC

frequency is inversily proportional to impedence , gree color represents capacitor( line 4)

line(1) and (3) not linearly proportional to the frequency so those lines not represent any component.

green colour represents capacitor
