(a) Determine the mirror\'s radius of curvature. cm

(b) Determine the magnification of the image.

Solution

o = 1 cm ; i = -5 cm

a)we know from lens eqn

1/f = 1/i + 1/o

f = i x o / (i + o)

f = 1 x -5/(1 - 5) = -1.25

R = 2f = 2 x -1.25 = -2.5 cm

Hence, R = 2.5 cm

b)m = -i/o = -(-5)/1 = 5

Hence, M = 5 x
