A uniform electric field with a magnitude of 500 V/m, is directed parallel to the +x axis. If the potential at x = 5.0 m is 2500 V, what is the potential at x = 2.0 m? A wire is bent to form concentric semicircles, as in the figure. What is the magnitude of the magnetic field at point P?

Solution

12) Electric field = - dV/dx

500 = (V2 - V1) / (x2 - x1)

500 =- (V2 - 2500 ) / (2 - 5)

V2 = 4000 V

potential at x = 2 is 4000V
