Part A) Calculate the pH of solutions with the following concentrations.

[H3O+] = 1×10?10 M

[OH?] = 1×10?12 M

Part B) give the name of the oxyacid H3PO4

Solution

A1)

[H3O+] = 1x10-10M

pH = -log[H3O+]

= -log (1x10-10)

pH = 10

A2)

[OH-] = 1x10-12M

pOH- = -log[OH-]

= -log (1x10-12)

pOH = 12

so ;

pH + pOH = 14

pH +12 = 14

pH = 2

B) the name of the oxyacid H3PO4 is phosphoric acid
