The Longitudnal research study in Piagetian research tradition with aim of finding if gender influences children\'s power of ideas and concepts acquisition ran from 1987 to 2000. The cross cultural study was conducted on two contrasting cultures- China and New Zealand ( NZ). The six surveys and two follow up surveys with control group covered all main areas for children cosmologies like motion of Earth, Sun and Moon, concepts of time and gravity, habitation and identity of Earth etc. The questions and the interview framework were designed to maximize flexibility to permit children of age range 2-12 to reproduce their ideas and concepts .
The Research suffered unexpected loss of sample drop in longitudnal study and by the time of follow-up surveys number of accessible sample children had dropped to 82 and 89 respectively ( for each survey)- the size which cannot be said to be enough considreing this massive research study.
The study revealed no statistically siginificant difference between boys and girls concept acquistion power and patter of knowledge acquisition, cognitive development, and conceptual change are found to be similar for boys an girls studied.
A proper research method has been followed, Solomon\'s four group Design has been followed in the study; average Cohen\'s k values of 0.89 ( Blown and Bryce (2006) has been determined and it along with several other factors indicate that the research is valid.
Research did test what it meant to test, however the findings could have altered with a larger and consitent sample size.The useful journal article however could be of good use to clinicians.
