IN Anaphase I , when homologous pairs fail to separate non disjunction occurs. the homologous pairs can fail to separate at Anaphase 1 then the chromatids can fail to separate in Anaphase 2 . both of these will result in one gamete with an extra chromosome and 1 gamete with one less chromosome.
