Neurotransmitter release in the brain can be inhibited by endogenous ligands that bind to different classes of receptors. Explain

(Note: give examples of two different ligands. One that binds to one class of receptor and the second that binds to another class of receptor and explain how each inhibits neurotransmitter release. Hint: a ligand-gated ion channel is one class of receptor and GPCR is another class)

Solution

There are two types of different ligand receptor.

First one ligand gated receptors will have GABA AND GLYCINE which inhibits receptors.

Another class G protein couples mother exiboit or inhibit but rather they modulate transmission activity

Gated ligand receptor works on opening and closinof ion channels and so provide passage to transmitters which inhibits by closing the chaneels by ligand.
