It is known gene H in chickens is responsible for fatty acid

It is known gene H in chickens is responsible for fatty acid metabolism. You wondered if bovines possess a homologous gene even though we know that the chicken is a non-mammal and non-rumen animal. You are asked to design an experiment to prove or disprove the idea that the bovine genome contains a gene H homolog. Purpose a set of experiments. Make sure to include the platform you are going to use, why you chose that particular system, and a brief description of the experimental design (times, control, sample collections, etc.), analysis, and data interpretation.

Solution

The experimental design would consist following steps.

Collection of samples-

The sample can collect from tissues of skin. Samples should collect from both animals.

Control- the chicken sample should take as control. The test sample is bovine sample.

Procedure of test-

Analysis- the PCR count and southern blot analysis would reveal about whether the bovine gene is homologous to Chicken gene H or not.

Interpretation- If southern blot provides positive result, then the bovine gene is homologous to Chicken gene H, otherwise it is not.

The test should perform three to four times to confirm the result and test the hypothesis.
