2. What are some negatives that have resulted from the self-esteem movement?

4. How might high self-esteem be related to aggressive behavior?
Solution
1. The self esteem movement started in the 90s and was mainly popular in America . It focussed on the concept of self esteem. Self esteem can be defined as how much worthy a person thinks he/she is. This movement was introduced for good but did not do any good and badly influenced american families and children. All the teachers and parents started praising children without anyu condition and outcome. To protect child\'s self esteem it was made sure that the child is protected from anykind of criticism amd scoldings , which was very wrong and adversly affected child\'s growth.
2.The self esteem movement was inteoduced for a good purpose of building high self esteem in children but it resulted in adverse consequences like Parents and teachers falsely encouraged children for no reason , Children started developing a false hopes for getting praised even for something not big , children became more emotionally fragile , children could not cope up with constructive criticism .
3. If a child is praised for doingg something easy He /she may never aim for higher things in life and would always settle for easy things and in return will always expect praise from everyone. This habit may hamper hi/her future as when he/she would work in a office they would always go for easy tasks over difficult ones and in return would want their bosses and leaders to praise them which may not be possible in such a setup.
4. People with high self esteem are the ones who believe in themselves and are always happy with whatever they do . They take on challenges . People with overly high self esteem would never accept criticism by anyone ariund. Because they think they are best at every task and nobody can tell them hiw and what to do . In this case if such a person is exposed to constructive criticism , he/she would always take it in a wrong way and this would result in aggression . Sometimes its good to accept criticism and work on one\'s flaws.
