4 An example of a particlelike interaction at a human scale

4. An example of a particle-like interaction at a human scale is a block in (American style) football: two players run towards cach other, collide, then bounce off -just as any two subatomic particles might do in a physics lab. Hovw would such an attempted block proceed, though, if the players could instead exhibit their wave-like nature at such low speeds? Explain in 1-2 sentences.

Solution

In the particle picture, the block (from American Football) is analogous to the particle-particle interaction where the players bump into each other.

If the players now exhibit wave nature, then the two waves will interfere with each other and based on when either of the player started running, the interference will be constructive or destructive. Thus the waves will superpose.
