Please define all terms (including the names of the stages). Also, for the skills that are listed below, please provide me with an example - i.e. for Object Permanence, you will need to define it and then give me an example.
Stage 1: Sensorimotor Stage
Object Permanence
Symbolism
Stage 2: Pre-Operational Stage
Symbolic Function
Egocentrism
Centration
Animism
Conservation
Solution
Stage 1: Sensorimotor Stage: This is the first stage, out of the four , of Piaget\'s theory of cognitive development. The first two years of an infant\'s life were designated to be the sensory motor stage.
Object Permanence: this is the belief or the understanding that substances or objects are present as it is, they continue to be present, even when we haven\'t seen them, or these things haven\'t been observed. For example, in case I place a toy inside a basket, the child might initially just think that the toy disappeared, but after acquiring object permanence, the child knows that the toy is in the bucket.
Symbolism: this is the phenomena in which a person unconsciously uses an object id image, to represent some of his thoughts or impulses that have been repressed. For example, some highly disturbed children might constantly keep drawing jumbled doodles, which could only be noticed after constant observations.
Stage 2: Pre-Operational Stage: this is the second stage of the four stages, of Piaget\'s theory. This stage starts as children start to talk, round 2 Ras of age. In this stage, children learn manipulation of symbols and incorporate themselves in symbolic play,
Symbolic Function: in this stage, the child might think of certain things even when they are not present in real. For example: children might keep talking about their grandmother or grandfather, who might really not be there.
Egocentrism: In this phenomena, the child might think that his parents, and caregivers might think exactly and feel exactly as he is feeling. Example: an egocentric girl might think that her mom loves dolls and would want to buy one for her.
Centration: this is where a person focuses on only one aspect of the situation and peacefully ignores the other aspects.
Animism: is where a child beliefs that even non living objects have feelings and might get hurt like living things. For example a child might say sorry to the floor for falling on it.
Conservation: in this phenomena the child acquires the ability to understand that even after a container is being adjusted, the quantity in the container will be same. Example: when a child is shown two glasses of the same height and asked if water in both is equal, he agrees that they are equal.
