In baseball statistics, you can measure how much above or below average they are in a certain area. for example, batting average, if you divide your average by the league average, and multiply by 100, you get a number. if the number is above 100, you are better than average. below, would be below average. however, I learned how we can use z score to better measure that. is it actually a better way that would give us more precise results? why or why not?

yes ,definately z score to better measure and give precise results.becasue The Z - score can be positive or negative. Positive is above the mean. Negative is below the mean.

and also If you are have a set of measurement scores on different measures using Z-scores you can tell how the scores are placed in their distributions. Then you can compare them.
