Solution

The regression model of the log(pressure) and log(volume) is

     log(pressure) = constant - coeff. * log(volume)

ie our model becomes on the basis of the analysis table is

log(pressure) = 1.11116 - 0.81344 * log(volume) .............................................(i)

now , given that volume = 17 cubic centimeter then we predict the pressure.

volume = 17

log(volume) = log(17) = 1.230448921

from the model (i)

log(pressure) = 1.11116 - 0.81344 * log(volume)

                      = 1.11116 - 0.81344* 1.230448921

                     = 0.1102636

now pressure = (10)^ 0.1102636 = 1.289032

hence , predicted pressure is 1.289032 in the syring when the volume is 17 cubic centimeters.
