The average heights of two populations of two regions are being compared. The heights of the two populations are normally distributed. In column A, 170 heights are given from population A. In column B, 190 heights are given from population B. In cells E1:E4 give the sample means and standard deviations of the two populations.
We will consider the two populations as having approximately the same average height if the difference of the sample means lies in a symmetric about the mean 90% confidence interval for the difference of the samples. Give in cell E6:E7 the lower and upper limits for this interval. In cell E9 indicate whether or not we accept the hypothesis that the two populations have approximately the same average height.
If this is the mean, how to get the upper limits and lower limits and accept/reject.
Please provide formula and steps for the solution.
